Research Position (PhD candidate) for the DFG (German Research Foundation) project SEMIAC in the research field of Robotics/Computer Vision
The Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) offers a PhD position in the DFG project SEMIAC (Semantic Environmental Models for Implicit Action Coordination). The PhD will work on a robot’s perception and proxemic behavior models to investigate close collaborative tasks. This includes the implementation of a perception-action control loop and situation assessment of a mobile robot considering the mental state of the interaction partner and the anticipation of his or her action. The PhD Student will benefit from closely working with the research team of the CITEC Central Lab Facilities (CLF). He or she will be part of a highly interactive research environment at the CITEC in Bielefeld and will cooperate with the DFG project partner at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg.

- development of a robot’s proxemic behavior for collaborative human-robot tasks
- implementation of active perception strategies and computer vision components for interpreting and anticipating human action
- implementation of collaborative robot behaviors (TIAGo robot)
- conducting human-robot interaction studies
- writing scientific publications
- collaborating with project partner in Magdeburg and other research groups at CITEC
