The Nature Inspired Computing and Engineering (NICE) Group within the Faculty of Technology is led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Yaochu Jin, who is an Alexander von Humboldt Professor for Artificial Intelligence funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The main research topics of the NICE group include evolutionary learning and optimization, trustworthy machine learning and data-driven optimization, and evolutionary developmental AI.
Your Tasks
- scientific work on privacy preserving federated learning and federated optimization with application to route planning systems using personal mobility information (95 %)
- supporting the supervision of Master students and teaching (5 %)

Your Profile
We expect
- relevant academic degree, e. g. masters in computer science, mathematics or a related field with good results
- good knowledge of machine learning
- good background in (applied) mathematics
- hands-on programming skills in Matlab or Python
- independent, self-reliant and highly self-motivated
- ability to cooperate and work in a team
- good command of English, written and oral
Preferred experience and skills
- knowledge in Bayesian optimization or evolutionary optimization is desirable
- candidates who have publications in high-quality journals or top-conferences in related areas are prioritised
