The Faculty of Biology, Department of Cognitive Neuroscience, has the following job opening:
The research group "Cognitive Neuroscience" in the Faculty of Biology investigates the neural basis of cognition and sensory perception. For this purpose, methods from behavioral and psychophysical research combined with neuroimaging (EEG, MEG, fMRI) and mathematical modelling are used. The particular focus of the research group lies on the mechanisms underlying hearing and multisensory perception. The working group is part of the Faculty of Biology and the Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) and collaborates with many international partners.
The specific position is supposed to strengthen the departmental research either on multisensory perception or hearing and applicants are required to have relevant methodological expertise. Own research interests can also be pursued if they exploit a combination of psychophysics, EEG and eye tracking.
Research tasks (70 %):
- Planning, design and programming of psychophysical experiments in relevant software, e.g. Matlab or Python
- Collection of behavioral data and EEG recordings
- Statistical analysis of data in relevant software, e.g. Matlab
- Preparation of scientific publications
- Presentation of results at international conferences
- Preparing literature reviews
Teaching tasks (20 %):
- Teaching support in the context of Master courses
- Supervision of Bachelor/Master as well as student projects
Other tasks (10 %):
- Administration and maintenance of research environment

- good programming skills (preferably in Matlab, R or Python)
