The interdisciplinary research agenda of AG8 is at the intersection of social epidemiology, gerontology, and health demography. It includes four research projects, which aim to quantify how demographic, social, and behavioral characteristics impact individuals' health and survival. Leveraging high-quality Nordic register data and longitudinal survey data, these projects adopt a life-course framework to study how life experiences shape individuals' health and health behaviors.
The AG8 research agenda includes the following overarching research questions:
- What are the trends and socio-demographic determinants of e-health use?
- What are the consequences of long commutes to work for the health of commuters and their family members?
- How do individuals change their health behaviors after experiencing a stressful life event (e.g. diagnosis of a new incurable disease, acute hospitalization, or a death in the family)?
- What are the trajectories of health at older ages (with focus on single major chronic conditions and multimorbidity)?
The successful applicant should contribute to one or more of the research themes of the AG8 research.
