Research Position for Monitoring and Analysis of Open Access Publication and Cost Data
Bielefeld University Library is a strong supporter of the ongoing Open Access Transformation and has built up extensive expertise in the analysis of publication and cost data over the past few years.
The position now to be filled spans two projects:
The EU project PALOMERA examines the current situation of Open Access policies with regard to academic book publications and will develop recommendations for the coordination of aligned guidelines and measures to accelerate the Open Access transformation in the book sector. As part of your tasks in the project, you will support the development and analysis of a knowledge base based on data collections on publication and cost data from the academic search engine BASE and the OpenAPC service.
The federal state initiative openaccess.nrw of the Digital University of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) aims to offer innovative, demand-oriented and efficient Open Access services, to promote the dialogue on the Open Access transformation, to critically reflect on developments and to position itself and speak with one voice on the topic of Open Access in NRW. As part of your duties in the project, you will work in the area of monitoring publication volumes and publication costs for evidence-based planning and implementation of the Open Access strategy in NRW.
In the PALOMERA project (55 %)
- building a knowledge base: Providing, processing, contextualising quantitative data on book publications from BASE and cost data from OpenAPC; contributing to the creation of a survey (25 %)
- analysis of the knowledge base: Data annotation and enrichment; collaboration in the preparation and implementation of the analysis and preparation of the results (25 %)
- supporting public relations work to communicate and disseminate the project results (5 %)
In the openaccess.nrw project (45 %)
- preparation of standardised publication data and cost analyses for universities in NRW (15 %)
- monitoring of publication output and Open Access shares at universities, universities of applied sciences and colleges of art and music in NRW (15 %)
- assessment of financing needs and development of funding and compensation models across universities in NRW (15 %)
- relevant scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent), e. g. in economics, library and information science
- a strong interest in Open Access transformation, bibliometric and economic issues
