Research Position for intelligent assistance systems / computer vision
The Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) offers a PhD position in the area of intelligent assistance systems / computer vision. The position is rooted in the COSY@Home-Lab. The PhD project should explore new methods for sensor-based behaviour models for interactive assistance in everyday tasks in smart, connected (public or domestic) environments. The anticipated system should acquire semantic contextual knowledge for providing better assistance. A further aspect is the extended development of an experimental environment in a research apartment including cloud-based services. He or she will be part of a highly interactive research environment at the CITEC, CoR-Lab, and it’s OWL.
- research tasks (70 %):
- development and implementation of behaviour models for intelligent assistance systems for adaptive control and knowledge acquisition in human-centred smart environments
- implementation of computer vision components for interpreting and anticipating human actions in his/her environment
- integration of cloud-based services in the software architecture of smart environments for human assistance
- conducting human-machine interaction studies
- writing scientific publications
- collaborating with project partners and other research groups at CITEC and CoR-Lab
- teaching tasks (20 %):
- support of software engineering study programs
- mentoring of student projects in the area of intelligent assistance systems
- other tasks (10 %):
- operating of lab infrastructure in the COSY@Home-lab.
- organisational tasks in the research group
Employment is conducive to scientific qualification.
- relevant completed scientific university degree (Master or equivalent) or relevant completed university studies and nearly completed scientific universitiy degree in informatics/computer science or related studies
- ability to work scientifically
- deep knowledge in intelligent systems, assistance systems, computer vision and human-machine interaction
- deep knowledge in software engineering
- advanced programming skills in C++, Java, Python
- experiences with middleware, cloud-based software architectures and home automation frameworks
- excellent command of scientific English, written and oral
- independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
- ability to work cooperatively in a team
- excellent communication and presentation skills
- advanced skills in German language (written and oral)
- experiences with human-machine interaction studies
- salary depending on personal skills/qualification up to Remuneration level 13 TV-L
- befristet (3 years) (§ 2 (1) sentence 1 of the WissZeitVG; in accordance with the provisions of the WissZeitVG and the Agreement on Satisfactory Conditions of Employment, the length of contract may differ in individual cases)
