The project is part of the research unit FOR 3000 (
https://uni-bielefeld.de/chemodiversity/) on the topic "Ecology and Evolution of Intraspecific Chemodiversity in Plants". The research unit consists of nine teams spread over Germany that work together on this exciting topic. As a research unit we very much enjoy learning from and with each other, as we cover different research areas. To our yearly workshops we invite national and international experts to gain further insights into different aspects of chemodiversity. As part of our young investigator module, our early career researchers have the chance to widen their knowledge and skills in workshops of their choice.
As part of this team, the postdoc will lead a common experiment to study the plasticity of chemodiversity, in which data will be collected in three plant species exposed to different stress conditions. The candidate will also be responsible for integrating the chemical and phenotypic data collected under standardised conditions by other laboratories of the research unit (synthesis).
Research tasks (95 %):
- bioassays with plants and insects to study intraspecific chemodiversity of plants
- rearing of plants and insects
- coordination of common experiment on plasticity of chemodiversity across groups
- chemical analyses of plant metabolites (metabololomics)
- analyses of complex data sets and writing of manuscripts
Other tasks (5 %):
- organisational tasks within the department in context of the research unit
