The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics has the following job opening:
The Professorship of Finance and Corporate Governance – led by Prof. Dr. Peter Limbach – provides teaching in the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance and sustainability as well as financial markets and portfolio management. Research focuses on topics in corporate finance and governance, financial accounting and markets, and sustainable finance. Each research project strives for practical relevance and international visibility via publications in leading international journals. Conducting a PhD at the Professorship of Finance and Corporate Governance is characterized by intensive supervision, continuous learning, access to practice and international academic networks, as well as a culture of productive discussions, open-mindedness, and teamwork.
- empirical research and research assistance in the area of corporate finance and/or corporate governance/ESG and/or financial markets (65 %)
- teaching/teaching support (up to 4 LVS in total), including exam administration and grading assistance, seminars and tutorials, thesis supervision (25 %)
- administrative duties and eventually support for applications for third-party funding (10 %)
The position is co-financed through a department programme that aims at strengthening the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM). Therefore, the active participation in the doctoral programme of BiGSEM (economics profile) is mandatory; for more information about BiGSEM see

- analytical skills and some first experience in analyzing empirical data (e. g. via Python, R or STATA)
- fluent English, both oral and written
- very good knowledge in the field of finance and/or financial accounting (proven by corresponding completed university courses, possibly also by first work experience)
- interest in pursuing an academic career
- skills in programming (e. g. Python) and/or the use of statistical software (R or STATA)
- first practical experience in banking, corporate finance/governance or financial accounting
