Research Position (Postdoc) in Theoretical Physics

The Faculty of Physics at the University of Bielefeld is inviting applications for a position in lattice QCD at non-zero temperature and density, starting as soon as possible. Initially the position is for the duration of one year. The successful candidate will work in the research group of Dr. Bastian Brandt and contribute to the NRW-FAIR network, an initiative to promote theoretical and experimental research on heavy-ion, hadron and nuclear physics at the GSI-FAIR facility within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). An extension might be possible, depending on the availability of funding.

Your Tasks
- development and implementation of new lattice techniques and running numerical simulations (approx. 50 %)
- evaluation and interpretation of data including analytical calculations (approx. 40 %)
- involvement in writing publications and presentation of scientific results at conferences (approx. 10 %)

Your Profile
We expect
- scientific degree (master or equivalent) in physics
- submitted thesis in the field of theoretical physics
- deep knowledge of quantum field theory and lattice gauge theory
- experience with numerical simulations of systems at non-zero temperatures
- cooperative and team-oriented way of working
- good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
Preferred experience and skills
- very good presentation and moderation skills
