The Fachsprachenzentrum (Language Centre) was founded in 2009 as a central service facility for language teaching at Bielefeld University. The English Department offers English lessons at all levels, including specialised language courses for all students and staff at the university.

Your Tasks
  • teaching duties (60 %):
    • organisation of own courses to the extent of 6 LVS in the English language area
    • development of different course concepts and the corresponding planning and  realisation of the courses
    • supervision and counselling of students
  • teaching-related tasks (20 %):
    • concept development in the area of UNIcert and Development and realisation of UNIcert  examinations
  • academic continuing education (15 %)
  • general administrative tasks (5 %)

Your Profile
We expect
  • completed scientific English-language university degree (e. g. Master's or Diploma)
  • in-depth knowledge of the didactics of the English language
  • experience in language teaching
  • academic teaching skills
  • independent, autonomous and committed way of working
  • strong organisational and coordination skills
  • cooperative and team-orientated way of working

Preferred experience and skills
  • experience with non-traditional teaching methods and the development of creative didactic concepts
  • experience with exam design
  • other professional qualifications outside language didactics that are relevant to the job profile
  • PhD
