The theory division of the physics department at Bielefeld University has an opening for a doctoral position within the Collaborative Research Center CRC-TR 211 "Strong-Interaction Matter under Extreme Conditions" of university groups in Bielefeld, Darmstadt and Frankfurt for the collaboration in the subproject B02 on "Collective Dynamics in Nuclear Collisions".
- pursue research on the description of the dynamics of strong-interaction matter in heavy-ion collisions with the help of numerical simulations of relativistic fluid dynamics or kinetic transport models (ca. 50 %)
- evaluation and interpretation of data, including analytical calculations (ca. 15 %)
- involvement in writing publications and presentation of scientific results at conferences (ca. 5 %)
- participation in the joint research work and discussions of the whole CRC, including attendance and preparation of common activities, e.g. the annual "Retreat" or the "Topical Workshops" (ca. 5 %)
- teaching of tutorials/courses and supervision of bachelor and master students (2.6 LVS / up to 22 %)
- participate in the organization of the academic life in the physics department (up to 3 %)

- scientific university degree (master or equivalent) in physics
- competent knowledge in heavy-ion physics and relativistic hydrodynamics
- interest in the broad research topics of the Collaborative Research Center (see the CRC web page https://crc-tr211.org)
- experience with the application of numerical methods and programming (with e. g. C/C++, Fortran or Python)
- good knowledge of English in written and spoken form
- independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
- ability to cooperate and to work in a team
- good presentation and moderation skills
- salary according to Remuneration level 13 TV-L
